Fly Young Red has no filter. His new single recently released, ‘Throw that Boy Pu**y’ leaves little to imagination– but includes wearing a rubber. So, that’s good!?!?
I love rap music. I love beats and nothing feels better to me on a sunny afternoon in the Dirty South (ala: Nashville – not really the ‘dirty’ south) than riding on my dubs, flashin my green, pimp’n to the beatz that only I can flow, windows on the low-low.
Okay. Wow. (Step back, white boy!)
Anyways, I become accustomed to rap music (and many other genres) being very honest and direct (though censored on radio) about sexual activity– but this shock-factor video, I’ll be the first to say, caused me to turn down the volume a bit, as if it were an adult moment on late, late HBO. (Know what I mean?) Besides using one of the great words that momma taught me to never say (and I was born not liking)– the “p” word, this video by a gay rapper has a great moment in the first 45 seconds.
“yea, you got me lookin’
thinkin’ bout f*cking,
let me get a rubber.
Beat it from the back…”
Although this video can take some hits from many, I actually find it interesting and I will go on a limb and say it’s cool that he included a prevention method. Right? Listen, I get it. Not a video to go run into your local ASO and hit play, loudly, per se. But in a prevention community that is struggling to reach all the demographics within the HIV landscape, music reaches some that may never read a blog like mine, or the literature on your website.
An ace is an ace. And I actually give this video (although not the intentional message we all try to curate ourselves is one that could be heard by those we aren’t already reaching). I do, also, enjoy messages off the path that we can always take.
Now here’s the video– NSFW. WARNING YA!
